This may seem like a dumb comparison, but I'm amazed at how strongly I felt I would just quit bad habits cold turkey. The reality is, it's not like that. Recently I've started to lift weights. It's something I did for several years in high school.
Once you're no longer a beginner at lifting weights, it can takes several months of lifting in order to increase the amount of weight you can lift by 5 lbs. You'll look around at others lifting a lot more than you and think--how the heck do they do that? The real answer--they've been lifting for years.
It's the same with quitting porn. How can you take your average time between relapse (aka streak) from 7 days to 30 days to 180 to 365 to infinity? Just keep working at it. Put the effort in every single day. When you relapse, learn from the mistake, put guard rails up, and don't convince yourself later on that it's okay to take the guard rails down. If the guard rails are too cumbersome, at least talk it over with a trusted friend before removing the guard rail.
Keep up the good work everyone!
