So I'm looking at using ScreenKin for my kids that have iPhones. We have Apple Music right now, but the problem is that Apple Music can't really be monitored because it can't play while recording (based on Apple's rules). Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation and have suggestions on how to handle this.
Some options:
1) Have them use the Apple Music web app. Not quite as usable as the main app but it's an option.
2) Use Spotify. I know Spotify has some questionable things on the service, but maybe with monitoring and filtering explicit content it's not that bad. There is an app on iPhone that will block Spotify images (Gertrude).
3) I wouldn't be too worried about YouTube Music but I'd prefer to have an option without music videos.
4) There is a way to block Apple Music images from loading (DNS filtering for is1-ssl.mzstatic.com) but eventually I'd like to work toward an accountability-first solution rather than block all the things.
Just curious if anyone else has had experiences with this
Any thoughts on music service for kids that goes well with ScreenKin on iPhone?

parentstriverpornographyFollowing up on this. I feel that the “Select Lock Screen App” is a game changer since it allows music to play when phone is locked and also can play in the background. I’m a little more open to YouTube Music now as I can monitor any videos they watch. Also considering Deezer, which doesn’t have videos but doesn’t lock explicit lyrics down either.

The music situation is difficult on iOS if you want the music/album art/music videos they watch monitored. Its basically allow the music app, or music can only be listened to while the phone is in use (except for Apple Music app, due to the issue you mentioned).
For us we just use YT Music and allow it. It hasnt been a problem that we're aware of. There may be some parental controls built into youtube music / family link controls. That could be something to look into. Looks like family link is available on iOS. I thought it was only android but its not.

Good to know. I have found that if you force YouTube restricted mode (via DNS filter like CleanBrowsing) it appears to force YouTube music to essentially be in restricted mode, which isn't perfect but it's something.
