Our house is a religious one. We try to limit device exposure for the kids. When they were young life was easy. Cartoons and kids games were an ideal way for them to use the tablet for a short time per day. As they grew up they wanted more control and more access. We knew this could come at a price, but how much can we keep saying no. Every night we would take back the tablet and check what had been used. We were grateful that our kids were remaining pure. Little did we know that one of the boys had figured out a way to delete all the history etc. Someone in his class had taught him. We searched for a web filter. After a long search we paid good $ for something we thought was a solution. It turns out that all of these filters can be bypassed by a savvy kid. Certainly more savvy than us parents. A friend told me about truple. We have been blown away by how advanced and robust it is. There is no way to bypass it, and it even installs on the cheap amazon tablets which we have. In real time I can look at all the devices to see what is being observed. My kids know that big daddy and mummy are looking out for them. I have recommended truple to many friends!
I'm in the same boat as you, just haven't traveled so far because my kids are 3 and 5. We are also religious and we also limit the time they spend infront of a monitor and what they watch. Usually we watch the cartoon ourselves before we give it to them. So I know that in a few years we will have to give them smartphones and limit their time and what they see on it...so truple is the way unless you're using ios which is unfortunetly limiting every app for monitoring. I've been using iphone for a while, but switched for this sole reason.
I can see that you are concerned for your kids and their exposure to the filth of this world. Not all are like you and its refreshing to see someone trying their best for their kids. Cudos to you.

This is the exact experience a close friend of mine had with her kids. I told her about Truple when her kids were young teens/preteens. She got a touch defensive and shrugged it off. I think it's hard for moms to understand what it's like to be a teenage boy--especially one using the internet and having filth thrown at them 24/7.
Eventually a youth leader at her church pulled the parents in and urged them to do something about pornography. This led them to second guess their web filter strategy. She setup Truple, and then pretty quickly found out one of her kids was viewing porn--bypassing the filter super easily. The child knew Truple was on the device, but thought they'd "tricked" Truple by adjusting the device's clock. It didn't work, as Truple accounts for that. Her kid has been porn free for quite some time now. Hopefully it was caught early on enough that he'll be able to avoid falling back into the trap. But the stresses of life will put that to the test over time.
Thank you for sharing! This is so valuable for everyone to hear.
